How it works

The calculation multiplies tree count by years and the user-supplied kilograms of CO2 per tree per year, then converts kilograms to tonnes. It is a scenario arithmetic check, not a field measurement or offset certification.

  • The rate must come from the selected species, site, and accounting boundary.

Worked example

Calculate tree planting impact
Input
											Trees: 25
Years: 20
Kg co2 per tree year: 21

Output
												Kilograms co2: 10500
Tonnes co2: 10.5
Note: A planning estimate only; age, species, climate, survival and land-use effects can change actual sequestration substantially.

When to use this

Restoration plans, classroom scenarios, and carbon-project spreadsheets model stated assumptions.

Edge cases

  • A species-specific rate may not transfer to another climate.
  • Mortality requires a survival-adjusted tree count.
  • An arithmetic estimate is not an offset claim without permanence and leakage accounting.
