How it works

Words are tokenized and their initial phonetic or orthographic sounds are compared across adjacent or selected positions; repeated initials are grouped and reported. Letter equality is only an approximation because spelling and pronunciation can diverge.

  • Initial-sound grouping captures a traditional rhetorical device with a configurable run length.

Worked example

The classic tongue-twister
Every content word shares an initial p, "a" and "of" are skipped
Input
Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers

Output
"Peter Piper picked peck pickled peppers" - 6 words starting with "p" at character 0

When to use this

Headlines, poetry drafts, and brand-name reviews check repeated opening sounds.

Edge cases

  • Knight and night share a sound despite different letters.
  • C and K can share an initial phoneme.
  • A repeated letter may not create alliteration when pronunciation changes.
