How it works

Prompt components such as setting, character, conflict, constraint, and viewpoint are sampled from separate lists and combined into a structured writing seed. A random seed can make the same component choices reproducible.

  • Independent components create variety while constraints keep the result actionable.

Worked example

A prompt from the seed "lighthouse"
The same seed always produces this same combination
Input
											lighthouse

Output
Write about a failed inventor who is hired to steal something that was never stolen, but they only have one match left.

When to use this

Classroom exercises, writer warm-ups, and workshops generate prompts.

Edge cases

  • Random components can contradict one another without a compatibility rule.
  • A topic without an action may not produce a usable task.
  • Repeating a seed yields the same prompt rather than fresh randomness.
