How it works

A trailing comma- or pipe-separated number becomes a line’s weight; a line without one receives one. Each side is totalled independently and the net score is the pro total minus the con total.

  • One is the neutral default for an ordinary unweighted list.
  • No importance scale, probability model, or decision threshold is imposed.

Worked example

Weigh pros and cons and score them
Input
											Pros: Short commute, 5
Better pay, 4
Cons: Smaller flat, 3
Moving cost, 2

Output
												Label Weight
------------- ------
Short commute 5
Better pay 4

When to use this

Relocation reviews weight commute and rent, procurement shortlists expose stakeholder priorities, and product decisions record disputed scores beside their reasons.

Edge cases

  • A negative weight reduces its own side and is allowed, so misplaced negative entries can reverse the intended meaning.
  • A trailing comma followed by nonnumeric text remains part of the label and receives weight one.
  • A higher total reflects only the submitted subjective weights and does not prove one choice objectively better.
